Success
- Access to treatment; The center started in October 2024, but to date, January 2026 the total number of 82 children was able to undergo surgery and successfully recovered. The 48 children were with hydrocephalus disability and 34 were with Spina bifida. The age ranges from 3 weeks to 13 years old.
- Development growth; There are some stages of children’s growth that have been challenging for children with these problems, but after the operation, we have witnessed children starting to sit, crawl and show feelings of happiness etc.
- Bringing hope and wellbeing of parents; almost all parents who arrived at the center were abounded by their spouse after having a child with this problem. The gathering of parents with the same problems at the house of joy led resilient to the parents and reduction of stress, but more hope arose after the children began receiving treatment which made a fully recovery.
- Provision of mental health/psychology sessions; having a child with hydrocephalus and Spina bifida it’s not a joke, it is major problem that cause the parents to face mental health challenges, Recognizing this SBHD Foundation has been providing psychological services to be able to treat the parent so that he/she can be psychologically well and can raise his/her child well.
Challenges which facing SBHD Foundation
- Lack of Fund to be able to afford the running cost of Treatment for the Children.
- Lack of Fund to be able to afford the running cost of the House of Joy.
- Transportation cost; a transportation cost it’s too higher because We do not have a car that can carry a Patients from the house of Joy to hospital as we have been renting it, So it has been a challenge for us because sometimes we get a medical emergence at night and its cost a lot for us.
- We do not have enough equipment for physical therapy for the children with Spina bifida and hydrocephalus such as Wheel Chair, stand frame, Walking frame, prone wedge, CP Chair, Bobath ball.
